Long Island is a great place to grow up. I had a happy normal childhood thanks to my parents. The best thing about Long Island is the beaches. You can head out to the Hamptons on the east end or explore the north and south shore beaches. NYC is just a over an hour train ride away on the Long Island Railroad.
